      Man seeking accident report arrested

EAST BRUNSWICK — A man who came to police headquarters to pick up an accident report wound up being arrested after police said he pulled a bag of cocaine out of his pocket.

Bradley Galen, 35, of Marlboro, Monmouth County, was arrested at 2:48 p.m. last Thursday.

Police said Galen had come to the police station looking for an accident report, but could not obtain one because the records department was off for Lincoln’s Birthday. He then requested a piece of paper from East Brunswick Lt. Russell MacArthur, who was at the front desk.

"He was going to write down what report he wanted from the records people," said Lt. Geraldine Garrett.

However, the man then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small plastic bag containing a white powder, she said.

Several police officers then confronted Galen and arrested him. In addition to the powder substance suspected to be cocaine, police said they found a Percocet tablet without a prescription in his possession.

He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released on his own recognizance.
