Library lauded for aiding physically challenged

The East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center, recently was named a recipient of the Loyal Heart Award for its commitment to "assure that the library is inclusionary and accessible" to the physically challenged. The award is given by the Middlesex County Chapter of the New Jersey Coalition on Women and Disabilities.

Loyal Heart Award Day is recognized by an act signed into law on April 29, 1999 by former Gov. Christine Todd Whitman. It designates the first Sunday in May each year as a day of recognition for caregivers and others who help people with disabilities reach their fullest potential. The library has received the award several times since its inception.
