CAROL RITTERSON BRIZAK, 54, of Burlington, formerly of East Brunswick and Monroe, died Aug. 20 in Helmetta. Prior to her retirement three weeks ago, she was a social worker at the New Jersey Training School for Boys, Monroe, for 10 years. Her husband, Paul Brizak, died in 1990. Surviving are four sons, Kenneth of South River, Joseph of East Brunswick and Thomas and Robert, both of Burlington; and four grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on Aug. 22 at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 846 Main St., Fords, NJ 08863.

FRANCESCA DiORIO DeCARLO, 88, of East Brunswick died Aug. 13 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Vito, died in 2002. Surviving are two sons, Tino of East Brunswick and Peter of the Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Dora Muscheta of New Rochelle, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, the Bronx.

CONSTANCE MAJEWSKI BOGUSH, 89, of South River died Aug. 13 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Alfred Bogush, died in 1992. Surviving are a son, Alfred Bogush Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Anna Petersack of South River; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South River. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Rosary Society, St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, 30 Jackson St., South River, NJ 08882.

EUGENE "GINO" J. OGDEN, 67, of South River, formerly of Milltown, died Aug. 17 at home. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Muller-Ogden of South River; a son, Eugene Ogden of Morrisville, Pa.; two stepsons, David Dollard of Naples, Fla., and Sean Dollard of Ulster, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Ogden of Morrisville; a brother, Joseph of Scranton, Pa.; five sisters, Ruth Strizalkowski, Beatrice Valenta, Shirley Hughes, Rose McNerney and Dorothy Ann Jasuilewicz, all of Scranton; and seven granddaughters. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans National Services, c/o Woodbridge Elks Lodge No. 2116, 665 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge NJ 07095, Attn.: Kenneth Stewart.

DEBORAH ROMAN, 37, of the Somerset section of Franklin died Aug. 19 at home. Surviving are her parents, Barbara and Emery Roman of Somerset, and her grandmother, Martha Roman of the Fords section of Woodbridge. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

ANTHONY ROSSI, 79, of East Brunswick died Aug. 15 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Stella Swerski, died in 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Koch of Jamesburg and Nina Soboloski of Monroe; a son, Anthony Rossi Jr. of East Brunswick, with whom he lived; three brothers, Louis of South River and Joseph and Peter, both of East Brunswick; a sister, Lena Peachy of New Brunswick; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River.

EDMOND F. RUTKOWSKI, 88, of South River died Aug. 18 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ciecko Rutkowski; a son, Edmund F. Rutkowski of Collegeville, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Rutkowski and Amanda Rutkowski, both of Collegeville. A Mass is planned for 11 a.m. on Aug. 22 at St. Mary’s Church, South River. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

GEORGE SHAGAWAT, 65, of Manalapan, formerly of North Brunswick, died Aug. 16 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Linda; four sons, George C. of Monroe, Louis D. of Slatington, Pa., John W. of Farmingdale and David A. of Manalapan; two daughters, Jacqueline Rapczynski of Casselberry, Fla., and Marcy Kirschner of Freehold; a brother, Louis of Hawthorne; two sisters, Lee Flynn of North Babylon, N.Y., and Georgianna Steffen of West Des Moines, Iowa; and five grandchildren. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

MARIA "MAURA" SINKIEWICZ DASZKIEWICZ of South River died Aug. 14 in Old Bridge Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Karl Daszkiewicz, and by three infant daughters. Surviving are four daughters, Olga Matasova of Minsk, Belarus, and Antonina Miedzwiadok, Kazia Gayshun and Pauline Terelmes, all of South River; a son, Stanley, also of South River; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

RICHARD JOSEPH HEYLER, 39, of Old Bridge died Aug. 19 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his parents, Irene and Charles Heyler; a sister, Irene Keaveney of Helmetta; a brother, Charles Heyler of Old Bridge; his grandmother, Anna Heyler of Syracuse, N.Y.; and a nephew. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Aug. 22 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

ANTONINA FERRANTELLI CHIARENZA, 72, of Del Ray Beach, Fla., formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Aug. 19 in Del Ray Medical Center. Surviving are her husband, Antonio; a daughter, Cathy Ramadan of Marlboro; a son, Gaspare of Del Ray Beach; a brother, Joseph Ferrantelli of Italy; and five granddaughters. Services are planned for 8 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Interment will follow in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Old Bridge.

VIRGINIA DABKOWSKI STOPKOWICZ, 87, of Old Bridge died Aug. 18 at home. Prior to her retirement in 1998, she was employed as a beautician for 25 years at Romano Beauty Shop, South River. Her husband, Joseph Stopkowicz, died in 1985. Surviving are two sisters, Helen Golaszewski of the Somerset section of Franklin and Laura Kulesa of Sayreville, and nine nieces and nephews. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Aug. 22 at St. Mary’s Church, South River. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

JOANNE DAVIS VELEZ, 54, of Sayreville died Aug. 20 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Wilson; a daughter, Melissa Velez of Timonium, Md.; a son, Steven Velez of Sayreville; her mother, Helen Conklin Davis of Norwich, Conn.; a sister, Agnes Sanchez of Sayreville; and a brother, William Davis of Coventry, Conn. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 23 at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
