High school and local sports team are working together

I read the "Your Turn" guest column ("School Field Is Community’s," Sentinel, Jan. 17) written by Tom Clark regarding the relationship between the East Brunswick High School football program and the local Pop Warner program. In fact, I had echoed many of the same sentiments regarding establishing a relationship between the high school program and Pop Warner.

Last fall I was asked by the board of directors of the St. Bart’s Buffalos to create a working relationship. I have met with the head football coach, athletic director and superintendent and have spoken with them on numerous occasions. They have all expressed a desire to foster a positive relationship. In fact, we have already agreed on numerous initiatives, including our use of the high school football field.

This and other initiatives will be announced at our annual banquet to be held on Feb. 10. The doors of communication are now open, and we look forward to continued progress.

David Lonski
